Backend Engineer, Sync

About the role

The sync team makes sure a change made on a phone in a train shows up on a laptop a second later. You will work on the services and data model behind real-time updates, offline edits, and integrations.

What you will do

• Design and build APIs and background workers that stay fast under load
• Improve how we store, merge, and replay changes from every client
• Make integrations reliable, with retries and clear error reports
• Take part in a calm on-call rotation, one week in eight

What you bring

• Three or more years building backend services in production
• Solid knowledge of relational databases and queues
• Care for observability: logs, metrics, and alerts you trust
• Comfort with hybrid work: two days a week in our Lisbon office

Nice to have

• Experience with conflict-free data types or event sourcing
• You have run a service through a traffic spike
